Smokey Point Community Church belongs to the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination (click HERE to go to our denomination's website.) The Alliance, historically was started not as a denomination, but as a network of churches and believers interested in preparing and sending overseas missionaries. Missions continues to be a distinctive and focus of the Alliance, and continues to be what sets us apart from other denominations, as opposed to being separate for doctrinal reasons.
The Alliance ascribes to an Evangelical Doctrine, and its churches have contributed to a national missions fund called the Great Commission Fund for decades. This fund and our denomination has served overseas church planting for over 100 years, until now, with more established churches overseas than here at home!
The Alliance, nationally, is broken up into districts. SPCC is part of AllianceNW. The district's job is to care for it's churches and pastors, while helping them to participate more fully in our denomination's mission. For stateside church planting we partner with an associated church planting organization called NW Church Planting. NW Church Planting rightly seeks to make church planting the business of the local church, as opposed to the denomination's.
